Abstract

Since the 1980s, with the expansion of the global economy, the trade walls between countries have been removed, and world trade has gained different dimensions. This study aims to examine the relationship between economic growth, globalization, and energy consumption in OECD countries in the 1972-2020 period with asymmetric causality tests. The study in which panel asymmetric causality tests were used revealed that the results differ according to the country’s dynamics and the types of shocks. While no causal relationship was found between the variables in Sweden, one of the OECD countries, it was concluded that there was a strong causal relationship between the variables in Belgium, Greece, Italy, England, and the USA.
