Abstract

Defining the relationship between the positive psychological capital and job satisfaction of the employees in the service sector, where the differentiation between competitors depends to a large extent on the human resources, is very important in terms of efficient management of human resources. The aim of this study is to determine whether demographic characteristics of accommodation workers cause a difference on positive psychological capital levels and the effect of positive psychological capital and its sub-dimensions (optimism, self-efficacy, hope and endurance) on job satisfaction. The population of the research consists of the employees of five-star hotels operating in Antalya. In the study, a questionnaire consisting of three parts, PPS scale and job satisfaction scale, was used to determine the individual characteristics of the employees. For the evaluations made on 430 questionnaires, percentage and frequency analysis, t test, Anova test, correlation analysis and univariate regression analysis were used and the findings were interpreted in the light of literature. As a result of the study, it was concluded that gender, age and marital status were determinant on positive psychological capital. In addition, it was determined that positive psychological capital and all its sub-dimensions had different effects on the job satisfaction of the employees.
