Abstract
The Russia-Ukraine crisis has been both a test and a turning point for a sustainable transformation in the energy economy of the European Union (EU). The crisis has brought energy security and Europe's dependence on energy resources back to the agenda, forced a review of the EU's energy policies, and led the EU to look for alternatives in energy supply security and policy orientations. In this context, liquefied natural gas (LNG) is a prominent alternative in the energy transition process. In this study, the effects of the Russia-Ukraine war on the energy security and foreign policy of the EU are investigated using a comparative research method; the importance of LNG is evaluated within the framework of energy diversification strategies to strengthen energy infrastructure, supply security, transition to renewable energy and energy efficiency goals.
