Abstract
This study aims to determine the perception of sustainability in hotel businesses by examining the perspectives of hotel business managers towards sustainable tourism. The study data were obtained through a survey study prepared in paired comparisons including social, economic, environmental, cultural, political and technological sustainability dimensions and sub-components of these dimensions. The data obtained were analyzed using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, one of the multi-criteria decision-making methods. In the study, as a result of the analysis of the data obtained from the managers of the five-star hotel enterprises operating in Bodrum, it was determined that the highest priority was environmental sustainability according to the perceptions of the managers. Furthermore, it has been concluded that other sustainability dimensions are economic, cultural, technological, political and social sustainability. Therefore, this study is a guiding study in determining the sustainability perceptions of hotel enterprises, which are an important stakeholder group and prioritizing the sustainability dimensions. According to the study's findings, sustainability in the field of tourism, as in many other fields, is generally considered in the context of environmental sustainability. This situation is a result of the mutual relationship of tourism with the environment.
