Abstract

The aim of this paper is twofold. Firstly, to categorize the published memoir, biography and auto biography books of business people in Turkey by certain dimensions. Secondly, to explore the possible contributions of the published books on Turkish business people to economic and business history literature. In this context, 278 books from 1947 to 2018 compiled by authors of the study have been analyzed using content analysis according to related categories. Research results show that most of the published books on Turkish business people are authorized books or commissioned biographies and the majority of those books are hagiographies. In addition, many of the books published on Turkish business people are rags to riches stories. Results of the study also indicated that books of Turkish business women are very rare and there are only 8 books on Turkish business women.
