Öz
Teknolojinin hızla gelişmesi ve daha kolay erişimin bir sonucu olarak sosyal medya bağımlılığı bu yaştaki ergenler için en büyük sorun haline gelmiştir. Bu araştırma, ergenlerin öz saygısı, depresyonu ve sosyal medya bağımlılıklarının etkisini incelemeyi amaçlamıştır. Araştırma, 475 ergenle ilişkisel bir anket tasarımıyla yürütülmüştür. Katılımcılar, çeşitli ortaokul ve liselere devam eden 266 (%56) kız ve 209 (%44) erkekten oluşmaktadır. Türkiye'deki farklı sınıf seviyelerinde eğitim görmektedirler. Veriler, pandemi kısıtlamalarının kaldırıldığı 2023-2024 yıllarında yüz yüze toplandı. Araştırma kapsamında katılımcıların kişisel bilgilerini belirlemek için araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Ergenler İçin Sosyal Medya Bağımlılığı Ölçeği (ESMBÖ), Ergenler İçin Benlik algısı Ölçeği ve Kutcher Ergen Depresyon Ölçeği (KEDÖ) veri toplama araçları olarak kullanılmıştır. Önerilen modelin Yapısal Eşitlik Modellemesi (SEM) kullanılarak test edilmesinin ardından depresyon ve öz saygının sosyal medya bağımlılığı üzerinde önemli bir etkiye sahip olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre depresyon düzeyinin sosyal medya bağımlılığını (SMB) öngördüğü belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca ergenlerin depresyon düzeylerinin benlik algıları aracılığıyla sosyal medya bağımlılıkları üzerindeki dolaylı etkisinin istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu bulunmuştur.
